Martyn Hett, 29, was one of the victims of the Manchester bombing in May that killed 22 people during an Ariana Grande concert.
Mariah Carey sent a touching video message to the funeral of the self-proclaimed Carey superfan, which took place Friday.
In a video message, Carey remembered Hett’s life. “I know you’re shining down on us from heaven,” she said. Carey said that she felt like she was talking to Hett during the service and recalled the time the two met.
“I just wanted to say that I love you and I’m so happy that we got a chance to meet,” the singer said. “And that I played a strong role in your life, it’s a huge honour to me. And I just want to send love to everyone,” Carey continued.
Hett’s father, Paul Hett, told those in attendance at the funeral that his son was inspirational and he touched everyone around him.
“In a very nice way, Martyn loved being in the limelight and the center of attention. He would be loving every minute of this fantastic celebration of his life,” he continued.
