“Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling has admitted to writing parts of her wizarding-world series on napkins, but now the author reveals she once wrote a “lost” manuscript on a party dress.
The author tells CNN’s Christiane Amanpour she penned an entire original fairy tale on a dress for her 50th birthday celebration.
“The theme of my 50th birthday, which I held at Halloween — even though that’s not really my birthday — was, come as your own private nightmare,” she reveals. For Rowling, that was a lost manuscript. The author, who turns 52 this year, was born on July 31, the same day as Harry Potter.
“I wrote over a dress most of that book,” she says, explaining her party gag. “So that book, I don’t know whether it will ever be published, but it’s actually hanging in a wardrobe currently.”
