People confirms that “America’s Got Talent” judge Mel B has been ordered to pay Stephen Belafonte $40,000 in temporary spousal support.
This news comes after Mel B had filed a restraining order against Belafonte back in April.
In the court documents obtained by People, the singer will also have to pay $140,000 in attorney fees and forensic fees on behalf of her ex.
She had accused him of physically and emotionally abusing her and alleged that she was “in fear” for her life. According to Mel B, Belafonte’s abuse began as Mel B’s career post-Spice Girls was starting to take off again.
Mel B had returned to work on “AGT” after the incident and was supported by her fellow judges. “We all go through tough times and we need people around us who care and matter and are there and are strong for us — and we’re all there for her,” Howie Mandel said.
Mel B also claimed in her filing that he pitted her against their nanny, who she claimed Belafonte had a sexual relationship with.
After 10 years of marriage, the two had filed for divorce in March and are seeking joint legal custody of their daughter Madison. Mel B had asked to terminate the court’s ability to award spousal support in her filing.
