The stage production of George Orwell’s “1984” currently on Broadway has stirred controversy for making some people vomit, and now Jennifer Lawrence is one of those people.
Olivia Wilde, who stars in the production, has been very upfront about the visceral quality of the play, which, even through its previews in London, was greeted with controversy, with members of the audience getting sick, fainting, and even yelling at the actors.
Impressively, “1984” can claim Lawrence as its latest victim. The Oscar winner attended Monday night’s performance of the play, but had to leave before the curtain dropped.
“Midway through the show, Jennifer Lawrence bolted from her seat. Several people saw her getting sick in the lobby,” one source told Page Six. “The ushers were very helpful and courteous in helping her out.”
For the record, Wilde is totally okay with the Oscar-winner puking during her performance, tweeting her approval with “#1984onBarfway”.
A friend later explained that Lawrence wasn’t sick from the show itself, but rather a stomach bug contracted from her nephews, and that she was “really sick.”
Lawrence is no stranger to getting sick at high-class events. Last year she told Seth Meyers about throwing up at an Oscar party she attended in 2014 when she was nominated for “American Hustle”.
“There’s this big fancy party, this Guy Oseary and Madonna party,” Lawrence said, “and I puked, on the porch. I was in such bad condition, and I look behind me while I’m puking, and Miley Cyrus is there, like, “Get it together.'”
