The cast of “Timeless” are expressing their excitement after fans prompted their cancelled show to return.
ET Canada caught up with the show’s stars — Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter, Malcolm Barrett and Goran Visnjic — at San Diego’s 2017 Comic-Con, where they talked about NBC lifting the time-travel drama’s cancellation back in May following a barrage of disappointed fan reaction online.
“Fans brought back our show,” Spencer says. “We were cancelled on a Wednesday and resurrected by a Saturday. We had a true on-television resurrection story, which I’ve never even heard of before.” Lanter adds, “I think it’s incredible… I think it’s so cool that the fans are so empowered now to bring a show back to life.”
Speaking of the impact of fans on social media, Barrett notes, “It’s a lot more direct. You get to see from the audience themselves and not just a poll or an idea. You get to see through the hashtags… Even when we got cancelled, we were trending.” He adds, “For me, this is my first experience having a fandom that is this involved.”
When asked what fans can expect from the following season, Spencer reveals, “We’re going to be shooting at Paramount in Los Angeles, so I think it opens up a lot more stories. We’ll see what we can explore. Maybe some Old Hollywood.”
Fans will be able to watch season 2 on Global.
