The plot of the upcoming seventh season of “American Horror Story” has, as usual, been under lock and key, even though series co-creator Ryan Murphy teased that the storyline will have something to do with the 2016 presidential election (and may include a Trump-like character).
We now know more and less about the new season than we did before, thanks to a creepy new teaser featuring all manner of disturbing imagery — and an army of weapon-wielding scary clowns — along with the tagline “Join Us.” Also revealed is the title of the new season: “Cult”.
Meanwhile, it’s also been confirmed that the season-seven cast will include “AHS” returnees Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Cheyenne Jackson, who’ll be joined by new additions Billy Eichner, Colton Haynes, Billie Lourd and Lena Dunham.
So how top-secret is the new season? So much so that even the cast was blindsided when Murphy took to Twitter to announce the big reveal of the season’s title was only an hour away, which led the curious cast to reveal that fans aren’t the only ones who’d been kept in the dark.
When the title was finally revealed, “AHS” star Cheyenne Jackson confirmed that the actors had been kept in the dark, writing: “We all just found out too. That’s why we’re as excited as you guys.”
“American Horror Story: Cult” will debut on Tuesday, Sept. 5.
