It has been exactly 10 years since Tegan and Sara’s debut album “The Con” was released. The duo released the album on July 24, 2007 before skyrocketing to the top of the charts.
They’ve released several albums since their debut, including “Sainthood”, “Heartthrob” and “Love You To Death”.
To celebrate the Canadian sisters’ monumental anniversary they are releasing a special edition of “The Con”. The album will be re-released as a covers collection with 14 of their favourite artists covering the 14 songs on the album.
The anniversary album is titled “The Con X: Covers” and it means a great deal to them. Sara gave a statement regarding the release and treated fans with a tease of what to expect.
“When I hear another band or artist cover one of our songs it can be indescribable and pleasantly disorienting – creating hope where there was originally hopelessness or joy where there was only ever regret,” Sara said. While no artists have been revealed yet, they can be expected in the coming months.
The album is due out on Oct. 13 and their label, Warner Bros., will be donating all proceeds from the re-release to The Tegan and Sara Foundation which supports LGBTQ girls and women.
