Selena Gomez’s bumping new single with Gucci Mane, “Fetish”, has a brand new music video!
Spotify’s most streamed female artist releases new visuals following the song’s audio release two weeks ago. The new video succeeds her music video for “Bad Liar” in June. Both songs will appear on Gomez’s upcoming third studio album.
The intense music video initially has an unassuming presence, as birds chirp in a quiet and sunny neighbourhood. The 25-year-old soon puts her acting chops to good use, hurling bags of groceries at her kitchen wall and thrashing about on the floor.
Gomez’s collaborator Mane also appears in the music video, albeit separately from the former “Wizards of Waverly Place” star.
The “Fetish” video was directed by Gomez’s longtime pal Petra Collins, and she explains why she felt it was important that the video be directed by a woman.
“If a guy shot ‘Fetish,’ I bet it would look way more sexual,” Selena told Dazed magazine. “That’s what I love about how you [Petra] captured my breakdown moments — it’s shown to the viewer as creepy and I honestly think that there are some guys out there who would make those moments more sexy than it was or should be.”
Added Gomez: “I’m not saying I’ve ever done something similar to the kitchen scene in real life, but I can say right now, I do weird s**t all the time when I’m alone in my house. It’s how I express myself! Honestly, what you [Petra] do with women is so inspiring to me. Your pictures can be sexy, but you aren’t sexualizing women. You capture the raw part of it all.”
Collins concurs: “The energy we were giving back and forth was insane,” she added. “It was like me screaming while you are just giving the performance of a lifetime.”
The queen of Instagram has been on a tear through the music industry since returning from her hiatus from a tough bout with lupus. Gomez has released three songs in the last six months, all of which currently rank on the Billboard Hot 100: “It Ain’t Me” with Norwegian DJ Kygo and the aforementioned “Bad Liar” and “Fetish”.
There is no current title or release date for Gomez’s third studio album by Interscope Records.
