Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood might have a new career as wedding planners. Or wedding-gift givers.
During their recent concert in Lafayette, Louisiana, Brooks spotted couple Jude and Jamie Blanchard at the opening night of his and Yearwood’s five shows in the city.
The couple had floor seats, but what helped them catch the eye of the singer was their neon green sign that read, “Best week ever: Garth this Friday, our wedding next Friday.”
Brooks spotted the couple and sang “To Make You Feel My Love” for them. While on stage, Brooks asked what gifts they wanted for their wedding and promised that he and Yearwood would send them something special. So Jamie handed him a wedding invitation from her purse.
After the wedding, Jamie revealed the newlywed couple received several boxes of gifts from Brooks and Yearwood, including a KitchenAid mixer, a Rowenta iron, a meat-grinder and a string of industrial patio lights, along with several other items.
“It’s a crazy amount of stuff,” Jamie told USA Today. “I don’t know what I thought he was going to send us, but this is just beyond what we were expecting… I’m really humbled.” Even though the couples are very happy they got gifts, the concert was enough. “I didn’t need him to send anything because he sang to us,” she said.
Earlier this month, Brooks and Yearwood promised another couple at their show who got engaged during the concert that they would pay for their honeymoon to Hawaii.
