A young boy in Texas gave Idina Menzel a run for her money when he belted out a killer version of her signature song.
Menzel was performing “Let It Go” from the Disney hit “Frozen” during a concert Sunday in Grand Prairie, Texas, when she invited a group of children to the stage.
Menzel began speaking with the only boy in the group, asking him if she knew what song she had been singing.
“‘Let It Go,’ obviously!” the boy replied, resulting in cheers and laughter from the audience. “What kind of question is that?”
“Let me just tell you what I’ve been through,” responded Menzel, who told the crowd that “every time a boy comes up, he tells me he doesn’t really like this song.” In fact, she recalled that one youngster even told her he preferred Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” from the movie “Trolls”.
“Heck to the no!” declared the boy, named Luke. “I’m offended.”
That made Menzel laugh even more, and she handed him the microphone and asked him to sing a chorus. The resulting performance (above) proved to be so mind-blowing that Menzel insisted he sing it one more time when the final part of the chorus couldn’t be heard over the audience’s cheering.
“Can you all just shut up for a minute and let him sing it again?” she asked. After his second performance of the song, Menzel marvelled, “I can’t sing like that!”
