Legendary talk show personality David Letterman is back.
The longtime “Late Show” host is set to return to TV in a new talk show for Netflix in 2018. The yet-to-be-named series will launch with six episodes featuring one-on-one long-form conversations with guests. Letterman will also explore topics outside the studio.
“I feel excited and lucky to be working on this project for Netflix,” Letterman said. “Here’s what I have learned, if you retire to spend more time with your family, check with your family first. Thanks for watching, drive safely.”
Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos was equally thrilled with the prospect of working with the TV legend. “Just meeting David Letterman was a thrill; imagine how exciting it is for me to announce that we will be working together, he said. “David Letterman is a true television icon, and I can’t wait to see him out in the wild, out from behind the desk and interviewing the people he finds most interesting. We’ll have to see if he keeps the beard.”
Letterman is obviously no slouch when it comes to the talk show game, having hosted more than 6,000 episodes during his 33 year reign across “Late Night” and “The Late Show”.
The lineup of guests for Letterman’s new show have not yet been revealed.
