Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper are already getting Oscar buzz for their performances in director David O. Russell’s Silver Linings Playbook, and ET recently sat down for an exclusive chat with Jennifer Lawrence before the film’s New York screening to talk about everything from her complex role playing a sex addict, working with Bradley Cooper and her recent comments on Hollywood’s obsession with body weight.
“I’m not method,”; Jennifer cracks about her approach to playing a sex addict. “I just thought she [her character Tiffany] was this hilarious kind of enigma. I’ve never met anyone like her, and I’ve never read a character like her. Normally when people are very forceful and opinionated they’re hiding insecurities, but she’s the exact opposite.”;
Jennifer does plenty of dancing in the film with Bradley, and she reveals that he’s actually the better dancer of the two.
“Bradley is a really great dancer and I am not, so I felt really bad for him because he would get it [the choreography] instantly and I’d be like … calling in secret dance lessons, like, “Don’t tell Bradley,'”; she laughs.
She surprisingly also reveals that Bradley isn’t exactly thrilled about his PeopleMagazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive”; title, and will be more than happy to relinquish his crown soon to a rumored Channing Tatum.
“That’s going to be the best thing that’s ever happened to him,”; she says about his reign coming to an end. “I’ve never seen someone so upset that people find him sexy.”;
As for her recent headline-making comments on her weight in Hollywood, most recently in December’s Elle where she says she is considered “obese”; in Hollywood and that she would never starve herself for a part, she stresses that she wants to be a good role model for young girls.
“You know, I was a young girl and I’m a woman that’s living in this world of everybody telling everyone how they should look, and what they should be eating and how people can lose this much weight this fast, and it just kind of overwhelms our senses,”; she says. “If I could just make the tiniest bit of difference in getting rid of that because it is so annoying, I would love that.”;
Check out the video to hear about her experience filming Catching Fire, the next film from The Hunger Games trilogy, in Hawaii, and which actors’ careers she admires the most.
Silver Linings Playbook hits theaters on November 21.
