Kate is a graduate of the Media, Information and Technoculture program at the University of Western Ontario. After interning at various gigs in Toronto and L.A., she landed a job at MTV Canada before joining ET Canada. A self proclaimed connoisseur of man-ponies slash “creative junkie,” Kate has an eclectic musical taste and enjoys reading, Canadian tuxedos, long walks in wooded areas with her dog, photography, dry white wines and a good spinach & strawberry salad.
Rachel has a B.A. (Honours) in Film Studies from Carleton University. She has interviewed everyone from Keanu Reeves and Amy Schumer to Robert Downey Jr. and Miss Piggy and has reported live from TIFF, Comic-Con, SXSW, D23, the SAG Awards and the Golden Globes. Rachel’s hobbies include introducing herself to cats she meets on the street, travelling, quoting obscure lines from “The Simpsons” and posting all about it on Twitter. She loves trivia so much, she wrote questions for Trivial Pursuit: Bet You Know It Canadian Edition board game. A Rotten Tomatometer-approved critic, Rachel is a member of the Alliance of Women Film Journalists and is on the jury at the 2021 Rising Sun International Film Festival in Japan.
Cat holds an Honours Specialization in Media, Information and Technoculture from Western University. As an occasional contributor on TMZ Live, Cat went on to pursue internships at Cityline and Entertainment City before joining ET Canada as an online producer. A self-proclaimed fashionista and go-to contributor for all things style, Cat’s live coverage experience includes Toronto Fashion Week, the Juno Awards and TIFF.
Alyssa has a Bachelor Of Journalism (Honours) from Humber College. Throughout her time in school she interned at Flare magazine and at ET Canada where she became an Online Producer in 2017. Alyssa is your go-to for everything “Bachelor/ette” related, but that hasn’t limited her from covering everything related to Harry Styles, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, the Royal Family and more. She has covered events such as TIFF and the AMAs, plus she has helped co-produce interviews with some of the biggest names in the business like Niall Horan and Bebe Rexha. When Alyssa isn’t covering the latest entertainment news, you can find her cuddling with her Labrador Retriever and sipping a glass of rosé.
Katie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Media Production from Ryerson University. Throughout her time in school, she interned at Big Brother Canada and The Marilyn Denis Show before joining the ET Canada digital team in 2018. Katie is your go-to for all things country music and has covered the CMA Awards, ACM Awards, CCMA Awards and every other country music award show under the sun. She’s interviewed some of country’s new and biggest stars, including Carly Pearce and Shania Twain. When she’s not covering the latest in entertainment news, you can find her planning her next vacation or buying some new cowboy boots for her next concert (Yee-Haw!).
Sarah holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a Masters in Social Media Studies from Dublin City University. She previously worked as a reporter at RSVP Magazine, the Irish Sun and HELLO! Canada before joining ET Canada as a freelance online writer in 2020. Sarah has interviewed everyone from the Duchess of York to Conor McGregor. Her live coverage experience includes the Irish Film and Television Awards (IFTAs) and TIFF. Outside of writing, Sarah has also been teaching dance for the past decade.
Mikael holds a Bachelor of Arts in Media Production from Ryerson University’s Radio and Television Arts (RTA) Program. Previously, Mikael has worked for companies such as BuzzFeed, etalk, The Cannes Film Festival, and iHeartRadio specializing in digital content creation. Prior to joining ET Canada as an Online Producer, Mikael was a host and reporter for ScreenRant and The Things where he interviewed reality stars such as the cast of Netflix’s Too Hot To Handle and RuPaul’s Drag Race. When Mikael’s not consuming the latest pop culture news, you can find him performing stand-up and creating comedy sketches on TikTok.
Brent is a freelance online editor with etcanada.com. As a member of the TV Critics Association, Brent has interviewed TV’s biggest stars and reviewed hundreds of television series. He’s still waiting for someone to make a better show than “The Sopranos”.
Shakiel is a graduate of BCIT’s Broadcast and Online Journalism diploma program. Before becoming an online freelance writer for etcanada.com in 2015, Shakiel was a digital intern at ET Canada. Shakiel also has experience with podcasting, producing video content and interviewing some of Hollywood’s most colourful characters.
Based in the UK and the Caribbean, Monica has interviewed some of the biggest names in the region, from legends such as Damian Marley, Ziggy Marley, Usain Bolt and Shaggy, to name a few. She’s filmed and directed award-winning documentaries on social issues and advocates for human rights and equality, supporting multiple charities and organizations across the globe.
Corey Atad is a freelance writer based in Toronto. In addition to ET Canada, he has written about film and culture for Esquire, Hazlitt, The Baffler and more. When he’s not watching movies, Corey’s favourite pastimes include cooking and tweeting about the Air Bud franchise.
Becca holds a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Journalism and Public Relations from Greenwich University. She started working at U.K. showbiz site EntertainmentWise while at university, going on to become the Music Editor. She’s done interviews with everyone from the Kardashians to One Direction and Kim Cattrall (big “Sex and the City” fan!). Becca also worked at the Daily Express as a Showbiz Reporter for a few years before joining the ET Canada team in 2017. Outside of work, she loves travelling, hiking and a good glass of white wine.
Anita holds a Bachelor of Arts Honours in English Literature from Queen’s University and is a graduate of Seneca College’s Journalism program. Before working as an online freelance writer for ET Canada, she was a digital intern at etcanada.com. She has experience writing for online media outlets about video games, technology and TV. Outside of work, she can be found watching five-hour long video essays about Disneyland and proselytizing about Carly Rae Jepsen.
Melissa has a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Professional Communication and Marketing from Ryerson University. During her undergraduate, she interned at The Social and ET Canada where she became a freelance online writer in 2019. Melissa has always immersed herself into pop culture and has interacted with celebs like Gigi Hadid, Adam Sandler and Ansel Elgort while attending and working the MMVAs, TIFF and by engaging in Instagram and Facebook lives.
