“Anyone in comedy who says they knew something was gonna work is full of s***,”; says Will Ferrell in the new issue of Rolling Stone. “I want to keep making things where, potentially, I do turn off part of the audience. Because the percentage that’s going, “I can’t believe this is happening, and I love it’ — that’s what I gravitate toward.”;

Ferrell and director Adam McKay also reveal that they first got the idea for Anchorman 2 six years ago, but held off on going forward with it due to the fact that most comedy sequels are terrible. “The second Austin Powers is pretty damn good, and Wayne’s World 2 is a lot of fun,”; McKay says. “Men in Black is one of my all-time favorites, but MIB II was pretty tough.”;

As with the first Anchorman, McKay says that he shot enough material for the sequel that it’s possible to edit together a second version of the film with entirely different jokes. “I’m like, “Holy s***, man,;”; says McKay. “”We might have two movies here.”;”;

The new issue of Rolling Stone hits newsstands tomorrow.
