Nearly six months after Sacha Baron Cohen dropped out of playing Freddie Mercury in the as yet untitled biopic of the Queen lead singer, the film’s producers have finally found a replacement—Ben Whishaw.
Whishaw is best known for playing Q in Skyfall, John Keats in Bright Star, and Bob Dylan in I’m Not There.
Baron Cohen left the project in July citing “creative differences.”;
The film will be written by Peter Morgan (The Queen, Rush, Frost/Nixon) and directed by Dexter Fletcher (Sunshine on Leith). The surviving members of Queen will oversee the soundtrack, which will feature “Bohemian Rhapsody”; and “We Will Rock You”;.
