The American Film Institute has released its year-end list of its selections for 2013’s best films and TV series during a year in which TV far outshone film in terms of buzz and, arguably, quality. Although there are some glaring omissions (Homeland didn’t make the TV list, while neither Dallas Buyers Club nor Lee Daniels’ The Butler made the list of top films), here are the AFI’s picks, in alphabetical order:
