(SPOILER ALERT: If you haven’t seen last night’s season-three finale of “Homeland’, this story contains a HUGE spoiler from the game-changing episode. Consider yourself warned!)
Last night’s Homeland finale ended with a game-changing shocker when Nicholas Brody (star Damian Lewis) was executed in front of an angry mob in the streets of Tehran after assassinating Iranian intelligence chief General Akbari.
The character, who was absent for most of the first half of the season, will leave a huge void in the Claire Danes-starring series, but will provide Homeland with the opportunity to hit the reboot button when it returns next year for a fourth season.
Fans took to Twitter to express their disbelief that the show would kill off one of its primary characters. As The Hollywood Reporter notes, some of these fans were famous, including How I Met Your Mother co-creator Carter Bays and actress-singer Mandy Moore, who wondered if she had just watched the show’s final episode (relax, Mandy, it’s coming back next fall):
Wait, was that the series finale of Homeland? #alreadymissingsaul
