‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’ Comes Alive In New York City

By Gavin Crisp.

There are 2 viewing obligations in my house that must be fulfilled for the Christmas season to officially begin: Ralphie must shoot his out in A Christmas Story, and the Peanuts gang must dance like a bunch of spasmodic automatons before Linus tells us what Christmas is all about.

Apparently I’m not the only one who holds that last Christmas tradition dear, as some joyful citizens of New York  — with Mashable“s endorsement — proved with their Peanuts-inspired flash mob.

Schroeder, Linus, Sally are all represented — even 3 and 4 (the short-lived twins of the comic strip circa 1963) make an appearance on the streets of the Big Apple to share the Christmas spirit and, presumably, work up a sweat.

The only disappointment is the inevitable Snoopy cameo, who forgoes the guitar playing of the cartoon and instead, prances around like he’s an extra in Hair – The Musical.

Now if only some inventive city dwellers instigated a flash mob dressed in pink bunny suits, my other Christmas wish would come true.
