Demi Lovato is pumped to headline our ET Canada New Years’ Eve at Niagara Falls bash tomorrow night, but before she does, she sat down with Rick for a very candid chat about her insanely busy career.
She just wrapped her second season judging on “The X Factor” and continues to romance Naya Rivera on “Glee”, but she’s still very focused on her music career as she’s just getting ready to launch a tour of her self-titled album, “Demi”, which she admits is “more representing who I am than any other album I’ve done.”
Her latest single, “Neon Lights”, is a change of pace for Demi. “It’s a different type of single than I’ve come out with. I’ve never really come out with an upbeat dance, kinda club song,” Demi says, “so I wanted to create a party atmosphere in the music video.”
When it comes to working with icy Simon Cowell on “The X Factor”;, Demi explains her simple approach to working with the music mogul: “I’m not the kind of person who’s gonna kiss you’re a** just because you’re important or whatever.”
For her ongoing role as Dani on “Glee”, she doesn’t really get the controversial aspect of playing a lesbian, saying “I’m actually just playing a character who’s in love with her girlfriend. So it’s not even that risky”.
Oh, and if that wasn’t enough, Demi is also making her way into movies as well. She sings the end credit version of “Let It Go” for the “Frozen” soundtrack, which has been nominated for a Golden Globe and is a frontrunner for an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song.
For now, Demi’s focused on creating a showstopping performance for her Canadian fans, a place that holds a special place in her heart since she spent some time in Northern Ontario shooting “Camp Rock” in 2008 and “Camp Rock 2” in 2009. While Demi laughs off the fact that she doesn’t indulge any more after her struggles with addiction, she promises that she is “going to bring just a lot of positive energy” to the ET Canada stage and a coat!
You can see Demi’s candid chat tonight on ET Canada (including which past Canadian NYE performer she’s a super fan of), and watch her take the stage tomorrow night for our big New Years’ Eve bash airing at 10 pm ET/PT on Global!
