Will Smith hadn’t offered any comment on the passing of James Avery, who played Uncle Phil on the rapper-turned-actor’s hit sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, but the actor has finally broken his silence with a Facebook post that offered a short but touching tribute, along with a photo of the last time the cast had gathered together.
“Some of my greatest lessons in Acting, Living and being a respectable human being came through James Avery,”; wrote Will. “Every young man needs an Uncle
Phil. Rest in Peace…This photo was the last time we were together.”;
Avery died on Dec. 31 at age 65 during open heart surgery.
