Although the long-awaited reboot of National Lampoon’s Vacation has apparently been put on hold, the stars of the original will be reuniting in a new TV comedy.

As reported by Deadline, Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo, who played spouses Clark and Ellen Griswold in the iconic comedy and its multiple sequels, have signed on to play a married couple in a still-untitled single-camera comedy from exec producer Aaron Kaplan.

In the series, explains Deadline, the duo will play “a married couple in their 60s who are finally enjoying their golden years”; who have a grown daughter who lives on the other side of the country with her two kids — which is just the way they like it, since seeing their grandchildren a few times each year is about all they can handle. “But, due to circumstances beyond their control, they are now forced to raise their grandchildren.”;

If the show gets a pick-up, it’s expected to appear on ABC’s 2014 fall lineup.

This marks Chevy’s return to series television after his exit from Community, which he left after four tumultuous seasons in which he continually badmouthed the show in interviews and had a reportedly less-than-harmonious relationship with series creator Dan Harmon.
