The tree is down. The lights are ready to be packed away along with everything else that screams Christmas at your house. But this doesn’t have to be a sad time for home decor! Your place can still sparkle after the festive season right into spring with a few simple tips for the transitional period.
Love It or List It Vancouver host Jillian Harris shares with ET Canada, her smart ideas for keeping things fresh!
“I love faux fur and knits,”; she says, “they add so much warmth and texture to your space between that winter and spring period. Sometimes I’ll drape a fur throw over the couch, for a cozy cabin feel.”;
Something else that works all seasons are vintage trophies and chalices. “They’re a hot trend right now,”; explains Jillian. Another tip for mixing old and new? A small vintage basket or old wooden box combined with modern over-sized glass balls. “I love the juxtaposition of an old industrial basket mixed with mercury glass,”; she says. When spring comes along you can always take out that sparkle and replace it with a baguette or use it for general storage.”;
