Who doesn’t love British babe Benedict Cumberbatch? That’s not a rhetorical question: we honestly can’t think of anyone. And just to hit the point home, the oh-so-popular TV & film star was honoured on Wednesday with a UK National Television Award for his stellar work on Sherlock.
For what, you ask? ‘Best TV Detective.’ Kinda sounds like they invented the category just to have him show up to the ceremony, no? Hey, whatever gets him there.
Alas, a scheduling conflict prevented Benedict from making it out to the lavish gala. But those in attendance weren’t left disappointed. You see, the always-charming thespian accepted the award via live remote from Los Angeles. Decked in a stylish suit, ol’ Ben had this to say to the shrieking crowd:
“‘Hello from LA. I’m over the moon and can’t tell you what this means to me. You are the people who have made this the success this is.”
The camera eventually panned down to reveal Ben’s lower half was decked out in swim trunks. You know, in lieu of the more customary suit pants. Hey, that’s LA for ya – it gets hot down there.
