Last night’s game between the Broncos and the Seahawks may have been horribly mis-matched, but for discerning viewers who remained in their seats during the commercial breaks, a glimpse of a slightly less one-sided conflict was briefly on display—the battle between the transformers and the Dino-bots.

The first trailer for Transformers: Age of Extinction debuted during the Super Bowl last night, and while it doesn’t give much away in terms of plot, it seems that the Dino-bots are going to be featured prominently. How they figure into the ongoing battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons, however, seems to have been left deliberately vague. In one shot, we see Bumblebee fighting a two-headed dragon, suggesting that the Autobots and Dino-bots are enemies. In a subsequent shot though, we see Optimus Prime riding on the back of Grimlock, suggesting that the Autobots and Dino-bots are allies.

In addition to the Dino-bots, the teaser also introduces a few other new elements to the series (namely, Mark Wahlberg and Nicola Peltz). But not everything will be radically different in this instalment—the teaser is heavy on explosions and people running away from explosions in slow motion, two mainstays of the first three Transformers films.
