The Jonas Brothers may have broken up, but JoBro Nick Jonas has already moved on to his next project: serving as “Creative and Musical Director”; for Demi Lovato’s Neon Lights tour, which kicks off in Vancouver this Sunday, Feb. 9.
“I’m overseeing video content, wardrobe, lighting and staging,”; Nick tells Rolling Stone. “And then I’m extending into the musical side of things, which includes creating the arrangements for the songs. I’m building what Demi wanted, which is a show without stops and starts.”;
In fact, reports
Rolling Stone, Nick has been working on Demi’s tour for a few months already, signing on shortly after the Jonas Brothers
announced their break-up. “Demi and I have the same manager,”; explains Nick. “I was immediately excited when I was offered the position. The relationship that Demi and I had over eight years really gives me the insight into how to best communicate with her and her team.”;
Don’t expect to see Nick at every show, however: “I’ll get the tour up and running, make sure it’s running smoothly,”; he says, “and then check in every few weeks.”;Nick says he’s been involved in rehearsals for the past two weeks, and says his biggest challenge “has been just trying to rethink some of the music and see how we could complement it with lights and video. I sat down with the band and said to them, “You need to step into this like it’s a new gig. None of these arrangements are going to sound like the originals, so you need to have an open mind.'”;Once Demi’s
Neon Lights tour is up and running, Nick then plans to focus his energies on a new solo project. “I’ve got a lot of things in the pipeline right now and I’m waiting to release some news about my music and my next steps,”; he says. “It isn’t quite locked in yet, but I have started making some music and now it’s all about lining up the pieces.”;
As for a JoBros reunion…don’t hold your breath. “At this moment we’re all focusing on ourselves and the things we want to accomplish,”; Nick tells Rolling Stone. “That’s especially true with Kevin, whose wife just gave birth. That’s a major life change for him and a priority. Joe and I are really excited for him as well as the music we’re making. I can’t say that I know when [we might reunite] because there’s lots of excitement about what we’re making as individuals.”;
