Chariot races and Ben-Hur go hand-in-hand so it’s only natural that director Timur Bekmambetov would strive to create the most pulse-pounding race scenes. Starring Jack Huston as Ben-Hur, a new featurette takes viewers behind-the-scenes of the epic chariot race in the upcoming epic.
Filmmaker Bekmambetov eschewed the use of CGI effects in favour of practical stunts, including those heart-stopping chariot race scenes complete with teams of horses, placing actors Huston and Toby Kebbell in the heart of the action.
“It’s scary. There are no airbags, no breaks,”; the director says, likening the chariot races of the past to modern-day NASCAR racing.
“Ben-Hur”; opens in theatres on August 12.
