Sunday night HBO released a 15-minute preview of the new season of Game of Thrones, giving salivating fans a glimpse at some of the biggest moments in the series like the Purple Wedding, new cast members and of course, more dragons.
“Some of the most shocking and mind-blowing scenes of the entire series come at the end of this coming season,” teases David Benioff. The co-creator also shares which character has the most to lose in the new season. “This is definitely the most dangerous season for Tyrion. It seems like in almost every episode he is in jeopardy of getting his head removed from his shoulders.”;
The extended look not only gives fans a sneak peek at the “action packed”; season four, but also has the cast answering questions you’re dying to know the answer to from Twitter:
“Joffrey! Joffrey’s a p***k, he’s a mommy’s boy, a bully …he’s got nice eyes,”; Rory McCann says joking in answer to the Twitter question “Does Joffrey have any redeeming qualities?’. Meanwhile, Emilia Clarke evades the question. “I feel like Jack the actor has an abundance of redeeming qualities, I feel like Joffrey the character, aahhh, ahhhh, less so.”;
Pedro Pascal talks about joining the cast as Oberyn Martell, describing his character as “a deeply passionate person.”; Adding, “I think he’s very, very dangerous, but he’s also good.”;
But the danger factor is upped upon talk of the dragons who Emilia Clarke reveals are “outgrowing the restrictions [Daenerys] is placing on them,”; adding “they’re dragons in a non dragon world. I think it’s kind of a symbol of her losing control of herself, and losing control of what she’s doing.”;
The extended look also takes you behind-the-scenes of the Purple Wedding between King Joffrey and Margaery Tyrell, shares the cast’s reaction to the overwhelming Red Wedding and features a light hearted moment between Peter Dinklage and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau that after a long day of shooting was less than joyously received from the crew.
Game of Thrones season four will premiere on April 6 at 9 pm on HBO, watch more behind-the-scenes action and interviews with the cast in “Ice and Fire: A Foreshadowing”; below!
