Members of the Russian punk outfit Pussy Riot were attacked by a group of uniformed Cossacks in Sochi today.

The band were struck with horse whips, doused in pepper spray and had their trademark masks removed by the Cossack militia, all of which took place as Pussy Riot attempted to begin an anti-Kremlin protest.

“A few seconds into the song they began to beat us with batons and pepper spray us. We didn’t even get through the first verse of the song,”; Maria Alyokhina told the Wall Street Journal.

The incident was captured on film. At the moment, there have been no arrests.
