Stephen King To Write Season-2 Premiere Of ‘Under The Dome’

By Brent Furdyk.

Production has begun on the second season of summertime hit Under the Dome, and the second season of the Stephen King-penned mystery will feature an episode from the acclaimed “Master of Horror”; himself.

According to a CBS press release, Stephen King — who wrote the bestselling novel on which Under the Dome is based, and also serves as the show’s executive producer — wrote the screenplay for the new season’s first episode.

The series follows the residents of the small New England town of Chester’s Mill after a transparent and seemingly impenetrable dome mysteriously seals off the town from the rest of the world, with the townsfolk (including Breaking Bad star Dean Norris) searching for answers while trying to survive the increasingly dire conditions within the dome.

Under the Dome was last summer’s #1 series, averaging more than 15 million viewers during its run to become TV’s most-watched scripted series in two decades.

Under the Dome returns to Global this summer.
