‘Real Housewives’ Teresa and Joe Giudice Plead Guilty To Fraud, Face Years In Prison

The Real Housewives of New Jersey“s Teresa Giudice and “Juicy”; Joe Giudice have pled guilty to numerous fraud charges, changing their tune in an apparent plea deal after earlier pleading not guilty to all charges.

This morning, Teresa and Joe went to a federal courthouse in Newark, New Jersey, where each reportedly pled guilty to several counts. According to the Associated Press, this included bankruptcy fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, mail fraud, and failure to pay taxes.

Last year, the reality-show couple was accused of wildly inflating their combined income when applying for millions of dollars in loans before the debut of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, and then hiding the income they earned thanks to the show’s success when subsequently filing for bankruptcy. In addition, the two were also charged with submitting fraudulent mortgage and loan applications, and submitting fake tax returns and W-2 forms.

In a statement read by her lawyer, Teresa said she takes full responsibility for her “mistakes”; and is “heartbroken”; over the effect her actions have had on her four daughters.

The next step is sentencing, and both Joe and Teresa are facing some serious jail time: Joe Giudice faces a potential sentence of anywhere from 37 to 46 months in the slammer, while Teresa Giudice could receive between 21 to 27 months.
