It’s come to this. Pop icon Alanis Morissette and her husband, singer Mario “Souleye’ Treadway, want their dog back. And they’re hitting the courts to make it happen.

In a lawsuit filed this week, Treadway has alleged Maria Garcia, the couple’s former house manager, has refused to return Circus, the couple’s Chihuahua/pug mix. So how’d she get the pup in the first place?

It seems that in early 2013, a jam-packed touring schedule prompted the couple to leave Circus with Maria. Mind you, Mario claims the arrangement was simply temporary.

Fast-forward to January, 2014: Maria sent an e-mail to Alanis and hubby, asking for ownership of the dog. It read in part, “In the years’ time that [Circus] has lived with us, he and our other dogs have become inseparable.”;

The suit, filed in Los Angeles’ Superior court, cites breach of agreement, and demands the immediate return of Circus. Oh, and $25,000 in damages, plus court costs. Yep, dog owners are a fierce breed!
