Update: Mick Jagger Comments On L’Wren Scott’s Passing

UPDATE: Mick Jagger’s Rolling Stones bandmates have also spoken up following the tragedy:

Keith Richards: “No-one saw this coming…Mick’s always been my soul brother and we love him…we’re thick as thieves and we’re all feeling for the man…we really hate to disappoint our fans but we’ll see everyone really soon.”;

Ronnie Wood: “This is such terrible news and right now the important thing is that we are all pulling together to offer Mick our support and help him through this sad time. Without a doubt we intend to be back out on that stage as soon as we can.”;

Charlie Watts: “Needless to say we are all completely shocked but our first thought is to support Mick at this awful time. We intend to come back to Australia and New Zealand as soon as it proves possible.”;

UPDATE: Mick Jagger has released a statement on Facebook regarding the passing of his longtime partner L’Wren Scott:

I am still struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way.

We spent many wonderful years together and had made a great life for ourselves.

She had great presence and her talent was much admired, not least by me.

I have been touched by the tributes that people have paid to her, and also the personal messages of support that I have received.

I will never forget her,

UPDATE: The Rolling Stones have cancelled the remainder of their tour dates in Australia and New Zealand. The band is looking to reschedule the shows at a later date. Ticket holders have been asked to hold on to their tickets until further notice.

The Rolling Stones have scrapped the opening date of their upcoming Australian tour following the death of Mick Jagger’s longtime girlfriend L’Wren Scott.

The fashion designer was found dead in her Manhattan apartment on Monday morning. She was 49.

“The Rolling Stones concert in Perth will not be going ahead as scheduled for Wednesday 19 March 2014,”; declared a message on the band’s website. “No further information is available at this time, ticket holders are asked to hold on to their tickets until a further update is available.”;

Wednesday’s concert in Perth was scheduled to be the kickoff date for a six stop tour. At the moment, the remaining dates of that tour are still slated to go ahead as planned.

News of L’Wren Scott’s death has also resulted in Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall’s daughter Georgia cancelling her appearance at Melbourne Fashion Week.

The 22-year-old model was scheduled to walk the runway for Australian designer Camilla Franks, but those plans have now been cancelled.

“In light of the recent sad news, Georgia May Jagger will not be participating in Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival for the Camilla Grand Showcase,“; said the designer’s spokesperson. “We ask that you respect Ms Jagger and her family’s privacy at this very difficult time”;
