After making a pair of guest-starring appearances this season, British actor Matthew Goode has officially joined the cast of The Good Wife.

Matthew will reportedly stick around as a full-time cast member for the rest of this season, although it’s unclear whether he’ll continue with the show beyond that.

In an interview with TV Line, Good Wife co-creator Robert King explains that Matthew’s character — prosecutor Fin Polmer — will hopefully fill the void left by the departure of Josh Charles.

“Josh created a great jolt of male energy in the show,”; he said. “We wanted an equivalent jolt once we knew Josh was leaving,”; King said. “So no matter what way Josh was leaving the show, we knew we needed to get more male energy.”;

The Good Wife airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Global.
