Say hello to our Canadian Star of the week: Jason Priestley.

Sure, there are few folks more American than Brandon “Apple Pie’ Walsh, but the fellow behind the iconic TV character is 100 per cent Canadian, baby!

So here’s the thing: anyone exclusively tying Jason to his eight years on Beverly Hills 90210 is only scratching the surface. Because JP’s done a heck of a lot outside the Aaron Spelling universe.

There are those memorable films of his, including TombstoneCalendar Girl, and Love and Death on Long Island.

There was his 11-year racing career, which was only cut short after his car slammed into a wall at 290 km/h (don’t worry, he’s fine now!).

There’s his two-and-counting decades of directing: in addition to helming countless TV shows (90210, The Secret Life of the American Teenager, 7th Heaven), he recently made his debut as a feature filmmaker. That’s right: the road trip comedy Cas & Dylan, starring Tatiana Maslany and Oscar winner Richard Dreyfuss coming out in theatres on Friday, April 4.

And when he’s not behind the camera, you can find Jason turning heads as the sleezy-yet-somehow-lovable Richard Fitzpatrick in the critically acclaimed HBO Canada series Call Me Fitz.

Of course, this is all still the tip of the iceberg. For the full scoop on this Canadian legend, be sure to check out Jason’s upcoming autobiography, Jason Priestley: A Memoir. It hits bookshelves this May, and there’s no doubt in our minds it’ll be quite the page-turner.
