Days of Our Lives is one of the few soaps still on the air (and NBC’s sole daytime drama), and one of the reasons why the long-running daytime drama remains relevant as it approaches its 50th anniversary is its willingness to push the envelope.
Case in point: gay characters Will Horton (Guy Wilson) and Sonny Kiriakis (Freddie Smith) are getting hitched this week, with the nuptials to take place over several episodes. Not only will this be the first time a same-sex couple has married on DooL, it’s also the first-ever gay wedding ever to take place on a daytime soap.
