Oprah’s OWN network has revealed its upcoming slate of future programming, boasting a mix of brand new content and the welcome return of an OWN staple show.
The big news coming out of the cable network’s upfront presentation was the reveal that Toni Braxton will be playing singer Darlene Love in a future biopic.
My Name Is Love: The Darlene Love Story marks OWN’s first-ever foray into the world of scripted telepics. The film is to appear on TV screens in time for a December premiere.
OWN also unveiled news about other upcoming pieces of programming. The network will play host to a new drama from Tyler Perry, as well as an Oprah-led docu-series on “humankind’s search for meaning and connection”; called Belief and an Octavia Spencer-anchored mini-series called Tulsa.
The series Oprah’s Master Class will return for another season starting on May 11. Justin Timberlake serves as the star attraction for the show’s season premiere.
