Before he sits at Dave’s desk, Stephen Colbert will make a visit to his couch, with CBS confirming that David Letterman’s recently announced replacement will drop by The Late Show next week to make his first appearance since last week’s big announcement.

Colbert will appear with Letterman on Tuesday, April 22, when he’ll presumably discuss the upcoming torch-passing transition. Meanwhile, it’s expected that The Colbert Report host will make one of his rare out-of-character appearances in order to clearly demonstrate the difference between the real Stephen Colbert and the over-the-top character he plays on his Comedy Central hit.
