Thursday night marked the debut of Just for Cats, the first ever Internet Cat Video Festival, which, as described, showcases Internet videos of cats doing funny, silly and amazingly cute stuff.
There’s a not-so-hidden agenda, however; the event — the first of many that will take place throughout Canada — is meant to raise awareness and raise money for cat welfare, as well as providing the opportunity for attendees to adopt a cat.
Attended by cat-lover Mrs. Laureen Harper (wife of Canada’s PM Stephen Harper), the festival was presented by the Canadian Federation of Humane Societies, and held at Toronto’s TIFF Bell Lightbox
The festival even had its own red carpet, with celebs such as famed fashionista Jeanne Becker (pictured with Mrs. Harper) posing with feline friends. Those in attendance watched a screening of various catty videos and check out the “adopt-a-thon”; area, with numerous cats in need of new homes.
