A third instalment of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series is currently in development. It will be based on Sisterhood Everlasting, the fifth and final book in Ann Brashares’ series.

The original Sisterhood movie was released in 2005 and helped launch the careers of Blake Lively, Alexis Bledel, America Ferrara, and Amber Tamblyn. It grossed $42 million on a budget of $25 million. A sequel followed three years later which was equally successful.

“The Sisterhood series is one of Alloy’s most cherished properties and we are looking forward to continuing its legacy with Sisterhood Everlasting nearly a decade after the first film was released,” Les Morgenstein, president of Alloy Entertainment, said in a statement. “The original film brought together an incredible group of talent who we hope to unite for fans once again.”
