The Internet lost its mind on Wednesday after photos of Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston locking lips flooded social media on Wednesday, but many aren’t believing what they see.
Rather than jumping for joy for the new couple, a few Twitter users scoffed at the photos, claiming that they were “fake” and “staged.”
Hiddleston was quickly added to the list of Swift’s relationship memes, with many centering on the validity of their romance. “Can we talk about those photos of Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston look…I mean come on!” a photo of Tina Fey rolling her eyes read.
“The Taylor Swift-Tom Hiddleston photos seem so staged. Surprised they aren’t slow dancing,” Twitter user Suzy Byrne wrote, while another tweet read, “Hiddleswift photos are so painfully, painfully staged. Expected better for T. Swift’s team.”
Swift was also the target of ongoing slut-shaming memes, which targeted her supposedly long list of suitors. “So he calls me up and he’s like ‘I still love you’ and I’m like: ‘Wait are you Joe, Taylor, Luca, John, Cory, Toby, Jake, Garret, Eddie, Conor, Patrick or Harry?'”
Another meme, meanwhile, read, “Please date me. I need a new song.”
