The first trailer for The Fault In Our Stars strongly suggested that the movie would be just a little on the sad side. The new extended trailer has arrived today, and it does nothing to reverse this impression. If anything, it’s even sadder than the first one.

Based on John Green’s bestselling book about two teenagers who meet at a cancer support group and fall in love, the movie re-unites Shailene Woodley with her Divergent co-star Ansel Elgort, who has been upgraded from the role of brother to boyfriend.

Fans of the book will be pleased to see several scenes reproduced almost exactly as they appear in the novel. The speech where Augustus Waters explains why he carries a pack of cigarettes that he never smokes, the couple’s trip to Amsterdam to meet the author of An Imperial Affliction (which Woodley is shown reading at one point), and the scene where Isaac’s ex-girlfriend’s car is egged all come to life just as Green described them.

The Fault In Our Stars hits theatres June 6.
