Rocker Meat Loaf is now “stable and in good condition” after collapsing from severe dehydration on stage during a performance of “I’d Do Anything For Love” Thursday night in Edmonton.
Midway through his concert at the Northern Jubilee Auditorium, the 68-year-old Grammy winner threw his microphone down and slowly collapsed until he was laying flat on stage, as shown in videos posted to social media by fans.
While it was not immediately clear what was happening on stage, members of his band and crew eventually rushed to his side and the auditorium was cleared out shortly afterwards with ambulances seen outside. A spokesperson for Alberta Health Services later said a patient had been transported from the auditorium to a hospital.

According to an update on his Facebook page, Meat Loaf “was admitted to a nearby hospital to undergo routine tests. His vital signs are stable and normal — he’s responsive and recovering well.” The post adds, “He extends his heartfelt thanks for everyone’s support and well wishes, and is expecting a speedy and full recovery.”
Edmonton anchor Michel Boyer later revealed Meat Loaf was discharged from the hospital early Friday morning.
While the veteran American singer had been touring in Canada since May, he had postponed two shows earlier in the week – one in Moose Jaw on June 11 and another in Calgary on June 13 – citing an unspecified illness.
