They’re two of the biggest Ellens in the entertainment biz. And they’ve also shared the same life-changing experience: coming out in front of the entire world.

Canada’s own Ellen Page stopped by the Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday, in part to promote her upcoming role in the highly-anticipated  X-Men: Days of Future Past. And although the show’s episode doesn’t air until May 27th, we’ve landed some highlights from their very moving conversation.

“I am so proud of you for coming out and I am happy for you,”; Ellen D. confessed. I know what a scary thing that is. Your speech was incredible. I just thought it was the most brilliantly written speech. How nervous were you?”;

Ellen P. didn’t mince words in her reply. “The most nervous I’ve ever been in my life, for sure,”; she said. “I think my biggest fear of doing it was even just having a panic attack quite frankly, but you know, I was so ready to do it… And grateful to have that moment and grateful to you because you did it at a time where it was much harder and much scarier.”;

Despite the overwhelming anxiety, Ellen P. confirmed she’s thrilled with the decision to come out as gay. “I knew that I was gonna feel better, [although] I did not anticipate just how happy I would feel in just every aspect of my life,”; she said. “Just an ease and a comfort. And it’s really been quite extraordinary to feel just the shift — it was pretty much overnight too.”;
