Kelly McGillis endured some scary onscreen moments in such hits as “Top Gun” and “Witness”, but the actress admits she’s lucky to be alive after a terrifying tussle with an intruder who broke into her North Carolina home.

According to TMZ, McGillis returned home on Friday night to discover a woman and a young girl in her kitchen. When the shaken star asked the woman who she was, she accused McGillis of stalking her on Twitter (McGillis says she has no idea who the woman is and had never had any interactions with her, in person or on social media).

McGillis says she tried to escape, at which point the woman attacked her, “knocking Kelly to the ground, scratching her and pulling her hair. During the struggle, she managed to set off her car alarm which scared the intruder just long enough for Kelly to break away.”

Escaping her house, McGillis was able to get to her car and drove to a neighbour’s home, where she called 911. Police arrived and arrested the woman, identified as Laurence Marie Dorn, and charged her with burglary, larceny, stalking, assault and battery, and interfering with emergency communication.
