Lilly Singh, who is best known by her YouTube username IISuperwomanII, is arguably one of the most talked about personalities on the Internet right now.

While attending VidCon 2016 on Thursday, the popular YouTube comedian addressed the importance of women supporting one another, both on and off the web.

Sitting with fellow digital creators Rosanna Pansino, Cassey Ho and Lindsey Stirling at the #GirlLove on YouTube panel at the Anaheim Convention Centre, Singh said, “I think it’s so important for women to support one another and not necessarily always be hostile and compete against each other.”

She continued, “I think I learned this when I first started YouTube and I became friends with so many people… I really wanted to just make it cool to compliment other women because I do believe we’re all in this together.”

The 27-year-old vlogger, who launched the #GirlLove social initiative, went on to say that “we live in a society that pits women against each other.” She added, “We have to proactively think about that, and take steps to go the opposite way […] A really good start is that it’s important for your friends and you to have the same priorities and same values… if you can’t value other people and other people’s friendships, there’s no way you’ll be able to value the people in your own friendships.”

ET Canada recently sat down with Singh in Toronto to talk about her top five celebrity encounters.
