Nicolas Cage and his wife Alice Kim have been separated since early 2016 the actor’s rep confirms to ET Canada.
“I can confirm they have been separated since January,” Cage rep said in a statement.
Cage, 52, and Kim, 32, would have celebrated their 12-year anniversary in August. The couple share one 10-year-old son together, Kal-el Coppola Cage.
The separation marks the end of Cage’s third marriage. The actor was married to Lisa Marie Presley for nearly four months in 2002, and was wed to Patricia Arquette for five years in 1995.
In 2013, Cage told The Guardian that he married Kim, a Korean, so she could travel along with him to South Africa while he filmed “Lord of War.”
“You can connect the dots,” he shared. “And we did it because we loved each other.”
“I made a very clear decision to marry out of my own zip code,” he added. “I mean, way out of my own zip code. I married into another culture, and it’s interesting because in Korea they call me the Son-in-Law.”
