Johnny Depp Gives First Interview Since Divorce Announcement

By Brent Furdyk.

Johnny Depp has yet to comment on all the drama surrounding his end of his short-lived marriage to Amber Heard — and he apparently plans to keep it that way.

That was definitely the case when Depp sat down for his first interview since the divorce announcement, making no mention of the legal battle orHeard’s allegations of domestic abuse.

According to People, Depp, dropped by the “Jonesy’s Jukebox” radio show on Sunday to chat with the host, former Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones, bringing along fellow Hollywood Vampires Matt Sorum, Robert DeLeo and Bruce Witkin.

Although the 53-year-old actor had nothing to say about his impending divorce, he did open up about the band’s recent European tour and his early career as a musician before he fell into acting by accident.

“I’ve [been a musician] since I was little – since I was 12 I’ve played,” he told Jones. “I started playing clubs when I was like 13 in Miami.”

Depp insisted that his acting career really came about by “accident.”

“I needed to pay rent,” said Depp. “Somebody said, ‘Why don’t you go meet an agent. My agent is with Nick Cage,’ so she sent me on an audition for something and I got it.” When his band broke up, he said, “it seemed like a good way to pay the rent for a minute.”
