Oscar-nominated actor Barkhad Abdi has joined the cast of the highly anticipated “Blade Runner 2”.

Abdi, best known for his breakthrough role in “Captain Philips”, joins a star-studded cast including: Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright and Harrison Ford.
The Somalian-born star made his acting debut as the pirate Abduwali Muse, alongside Tom Hanks, blowing away audiences with his powerful performance.
Details surrounding the movie are under lock and key, but the plot is set several decades after the conclusion of the original “Blade Runner”.

The film will be directed by Dennis Villeneuve of “Sicario” fame and will hit theatres on October 6, 2017.
