Dennis Quaid is being served with divorce papers from wife Kimberly for a second time, reports TMZ.
A court petition was filed Tuesday in Los Angeles (Quaid is working on a project in Vancouver), but TMZ insists he wasn’t blindsided, as the couple released a joint statement.

“After careful consideration, we have decided to end our 12 year marriage. The decision was made amicably and with mutual respect toward one another,” reads the statement. “We will always remain great friends and devoted partners in raising our children.”
Dennis and Kimberly, reports TMZ, will share custody of their eight-year-old children, Zoe and Thomas.

Kimberly previously filed for divorce in March 2012, but the couple reconcilced and she eventually withdrew the filing.
The couple have been married since 2004. “Sources connected to the couple tell us much of the split has been sorted out already,” notes TMZ, “including the divvying up of assets.”
