Amy Schumer has had an amazing year. Even with her meteoric rise to the top from stand-up comedian to bonafide movie star, the 35-year-old actress has stayed true to her roots, as she’s just as an unapologetic and humble as ever in candid cover story and photoshoot for Marie Claire.
“It’s such a blur,” she recalls of her whirlwind year. “I don’t even remember what I’ve just done. I’m trying to figure out how to navigate all this. I don’t have it down. I. Do. Not.”
Schumer has earned a lot of bragging rights over the past year: she had her very own HBO stand-up special directed by Chris Rock, her debut film “Trainwreck” which she wrote and starred in grossed $140 million at the box office, her Emmy and Peabody Award-winning TV series “Inside Amy Schumer” entered its fourth season, and she’s flexing her dramatic skills in the upcoming PTSD drama “Thank You For Your Service”. If that isn’t enough, Schumer will top her crazy-successful year off by starring alongside Goldie Hawn in a mother-daughter comedy.

Despite fame, Schumer doesn’t seem to have changed much since her days growing up on Long Island.
“I was always self-effacing, self-reflective,” she tells Marie Claire. “I hated feeling I was just like every other girl on Long Island. Looking at my clothes and my hair. I was very aware of not wanting to be the same as everyone.”
In addition to her industry success, Schumer is happy to have found love in the past year, gushing about her boyfriend, Ben Hanisch.
“I feel like Ben is the first guy who’s really been my boyfriend. There are guys who, if they heard me say that, would want to punch me in the face, but yeah, it’s the truth,” she says. “Being in love is the scariest thing in the world. You want to f***ing cry and scream. I can’t handle it. Every time we say goodbye, I think, This will have been a nice last week together. Or I tell myself nothing is real and he’s going to leave me and tell me he never loved me. I feel so bad for him. How exhausting it must be dating me.”
The actress has been praising her photoshoot and interview with the magazine on Instagram.
